2022 Super Rugby Pacific Draw and Full Fixtures

Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika introduced a new era for Super Rugby Pacific.
Super Round- Round 2 all matches will take place at AAMI Park in Melbourne
91 games at fan-friendly start times and themed rounds across competitions

Today, New Zealand Rugby and Australia Rugby have declared the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific draw schedule. The new competition features a 12-teams format five teams from Australia and five teams from New Zealand as well as newcomers Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika.

The 18-weeks competition will start on February 18th, and the final will commence on June 18th. Every team will participate in 14 regular-season games, such as one match play against each of other teams and one extra match play against three other teams, with an emphasis on derby games in the region.

Every team will play seven home matches, and each team will have a bye week in Round 7, Round 8, or Round 9 to ensure a level playing field for all teams, leading to the finals. After the regular season, the top eight teams will qualify for the three-week final playoff.

Moana Pasifika will start their Super Rugby Pacific 2022 first match against Brumbies in Auckland on 18 February. On the same evening, Australia starts its season when Waratah will take on Hurricane in Sydney. On Saturday, 19 February 2022, the Fijian Drua will play their first match against Blues in Auckland.

The first epic round will also feature a classic Southern derby between the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa Champion Crusaders and the Highlanders. The match will take place at Orangetheory Stadium in Christchurch. The Australian derby match will happen between Force and Rebels at HBF Park in Perth.

A new step for the competition, a super round will take place in round 2, in which all games will be played on Friday, 25th, Saturday, 26th February, and Sunday, 27th February in Melbourne. The six games will take place as three double-headers over the three days at AAMI Park; this will create a festival rugby weekend in the city. Melbourne Super Round is sponsored by TEG Live, the leading live entertainment company in the Asia Pacific region, and supported by the Victorian Government and Visit Victoria.

2022 Super Rugby Pacific will also celebrate diversity with the Women's Rugby Round in Round 3, the Cultural Round in Round 6, and the Heritage Round in Round 12. Five New Zealand teams and five Australian teams will also play in Round 10 for the ANZAC round on the weekend of 22/23 April.

Fijian Drua will host a limited number of matches in Fiji due to ongoing pandemic concerns in 2022, as it will be based in New South Wales, whereas, Moana Pasifika will host all of its home games in Auckland, where they will be based. We hope that more games will be played in the Pacific Islands in the future.

2022 SUPER RUGBY PACIFIC OVERVIEW

Format: 12 Teams: Fijian Drua, Moana Pasifika, Rebels, Brumbies, Force, Reds, Waratahs, Highlanders, Crusaders, Hurricanes, Chiefs, and Blues.

14 Regular season matches: 11 round-robin games + 3 derby games
One bye round each team (all byes in rounds 7, 8, and 9)

Eight team playoffs format: (QFs: 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5)
Total matches: 91

Tournament Duration: 18 weeks = 15-week regular season + three-week playoff series.

First match: Moana Pasifika VS Brumbies at Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland: Friday, 18 February

Super Round: Rd 2, Friday to Sunday, 25-27 February, at AAMI Park Melbourne Park.
