Orangetheory Stadium is a rugby league stadium situated in Christchurch, New Zealand. Previously, known as AMI Stadium and before that called as Addington Showgrounds. The ground owner is the Canterbury Rugby League.
In 1990, the Canterbury Rugby League purchased the ground from the Christchurch City Council and is a part of the CBS Canterbury Arena and Addington Raceway complex.
The venue has hosted the International Rugby League competitions, including the World Cups in 1975, 1977, 1988, 1990, and 1991, and hosted the All Black Test games. In this venue, Kiwis won the game against Great Britain to reach the finals of the 1985-1988 Rugby League World Cup.
The Rugby League Park suffered severe damage during the Christchurch earthquake in February 2011 and had to be closed.
The stands were destroyed after the earthquake. Though, AMI Stadium, the main stadium in Christchurch, suffered more damage. In 2012, the Rugby League Park upgraded to 17,000 seats as a temporary alternative to the city; the seating capacity may increase to 26,000 in main events. Therefore, since the 2012 Super Rugby season, the Crusaders have been stationed there and stayed there indefinitely.
