As COVID-19 continues to cause severe damage to international travel, the organizers decided to continue the domestic competition in 2021. The Reds loved it, winning seven of their eight games, including their first Canberra win in more than seven years. The final was held in front of a large audience at Suncorp Stadium, which was watched by 1.3 million people across the country on Stan Sports and Channel 9. The Reds thrillingly won the game.
